Exploring the Marketer’s Perspective on the Amazon Kindle
Ebook readers like the Amazon Kindle provide an excellent opportunity for marketers to exploit them and squeeze out every penny. A Kindle is a great investment and should be owned by every marketer. It’s portable, easy to read and can store a huge number of books. This is far more important in the modern world than carrying around a large number of paperbacks. But, how as a marketer can you best use all of the opportunities presented to you through the Kindle? This article explores three of the possibilities.
First, you should be thinking about the Kindle as a personal tool, designed to help your learning. All the versions of the Kindle support PDF documents, which can be loaded directly onto the device and viewed. This is excellent if you’ve purchased an ebook or are looking to learn about a new Internet Marketing topic. Rather than being restricted to reading this on a computer screen, which is often inconvenient, you can read this on the Kindle instead. By using this technique you can be gaining more expertise as a marketer wherever you are.
Second, you can sell your own ebooks directly on the Kindle. This can get them massive exposure on the Kindle store. Simply take a product that you have already created and look into how to convert this to run on the Kindle. Amazon provides all the tools you need to sell an ebook you have in MS Word format directly in the proprietary format used by the e-reader device. A number of other formats are also supported. Sell the ebook for a low price to get it out to a maximum number of consumers, or for a higher price to maximise your profits.
Thirdly, consider using an e-reader ready version of your ebook as a bonus for purchasers. This needs not be done directly through Amazon. You can handle this all for yourself using third party software. One example is the open source Calibre. Convert your ebook to an e-reader ready format and this will work on multiple devices, including the Kindle and its competitors. Although your customers can do this for themselves, by saving them this additional step you are saving them time and can ensure that the ebook reader version is laid out exactly how you want it.
