What is the best long-term format to start buying e-books?
I'll be doing a lot of traveling in my life, and I love reading. I start getting new books in electronic format so you can easily travel with me. But to my eye, the market for electronic books looks like the VHS / Betamax or problem HD-DVD/Blu-ray million times in one. I know what e-book formats is the best quality, and most likely to last long term. I do not want to buy my books in a format of shit, or in a format that will disappear after investing hundreds of dollars over the years in it. I do not care both the hardware, by the way … I'll read on my computer, for now, and hardware for electronic readers to long term will improve for everyone. If a Kindle is better than a corner today (or vice versa), does not affect my decision. Thanks!
I would not put money on any of the current provider-specific formats out there if you want to make a long-term investment in e-books and readers. I wate until standardized format based DRM or open any store can sell to work in any reader static and has DRM or no DRM at all. If you want to make a long-term investment in the reading material, see the dead tree editions. Not become obsolete, and if the various companies working out of work.
