Should I get an iPad?
Im considering getting an iPad to use as an ebook reader. I had the kindle and didnt like it–the screen was too dark. However, I was also thinking about getting a macbook pro instead. I already have a laptop, but it’s a 17 inch dell and weighs 16lbs and I dont thinnk it’s a good fit for me when I go off to school in august. The price of the ipad is a good bit cheaper than the macbook pro, but it seems like the MBP has more to offer. What do you guys think?
I have to disagree with Lila (above answerer). The iPad does work when there is no WiFi and internet connection available. If you buy the 3G version of the iPad (which is relatively expensive at this timebeing) 3G generally means ‘mobile networking’ and you can go on the internet anywhere in the world, even without internet connection or WiFi.
I think you should wait for the iPad 2G. It will be released in a year and most likely have a camera and many more fantastic features. NEVER get the first generation of any device, you will regret it when a cheaper and better device comes along a few months after or a year after.
I was jealous of my friends when they got the iPod Touch 1G, but now they are all jealous of me because I paid less for my latest generation of the iPod Touch and it is even better than theirs.
Regarding a Macbook Pro, wait until the iPad 2G comes out to decide. Then you can compare the Macbook Prop and iPad 2G features and see which one you like best or is more suitable. Take into consideration things like portability, memory, frequent usage and generally a lot of aspects that will suit your daily life.
If you travel a lot, get the iPad 2G. If you have a tight budget, get the iPad 2G. If you want a lot of features…we can’t decide that until the iPad 2G is released. If you want a big screen and keyboard, obviously get the Macbook Pro.
I think you should wait for the iPad 2G to be released before you decide which one to get. I don’t think you’ll wait that long. From my research of the releases of past products (e.g. iPod Touch 1G, 2G, iPhone 1G, 2G, 3G, 3GS etc.) they all seem to be released a year after another in the same month. Time flies, think about it, it’s already near to our fourth month of 2010, how quick has time gone!
