I need an ebook reader that I can use with the lights off at night in my room and has mp3 playback.Suggestions?
The Kindle doesn’t work with the lights off. While the Sony Reader has an accessory called a “lightwedge” that highlights the screen, it costs, and both the Sony & Kindle cost several hundred dollars.
Most of the new dedicated ebook readers have an MP3 player, but most don’t have a screen you can read in the dark.
If all you’re looking for is a backlit screen for ebooks and an MP3 player, an older-model PDA will work–a Clie or Treo, or some kinds of cellphones. (An iPhone would work very well. Don’t you want to pay $70/month to read ebooks and listen to music?)
Look for something that runs Palm OS or Windows CE.
