A portable ebook reader like the Amazon Kindle can be a lifesaver for anyone who likes to read. Carrying heavy books around is hard and awkward, especially on longer vacations when you might need to bring a half dozen or more.
With a portable ebook reader, you can easily get your books and carry thousands of them with you. However, you need to select the right ebook reader.
The Amazon Kindle is probably the best known of these devices. They now are internationally available and you can fit over 2,000 books on them. There are a few other things to keep in mind when choosing a portable ebook reader, though.
1. Are many books available for the device? Not all portable ebook readers have access to the same number of books. Make sure you check this out before you order . . . or you could end up very disappointed. There’s nothing worse than not being able to download the latest bestseller!
2. Availability in your area. If you don’t live in the US, you might not be able to use all the ebook readers out there. Make sure that downloading is available in your area before you buy.
3. Is it easy to use? This is very important. Size is important . . . you need to be able to carry the device easily, but too small means you won’t be able to read the text. You should also look at screen options, some are available with a paper type screen, rather than a backlit one.
Which portable ebook reader is best? Many people are flocking to the Amazon Kindle, but you should research the other readers on the market, as well. Keep the notes above in mind while making your choice and you’ll be able to figure out the best one for your use.
