The “Anne of Green Gables” books by Lucy Maud Montgomery. They were published in the early years of the 20th century and they were wildly popular. Here in Canada, they are nearly everybody’s favourite. The stories were written for girls, but are enjoyed by anyone, any age. Good old-fashioned story-telling by a very gifted writer.
